and was a fairly open country for foreigners. Economically, the country was also in fairly good shape. How was it, then, that
Britain got there first? Why did England end up leading the charge through the industrial revolution while China, which many scholars believe was actually wealthier at one point, didnt enjoy
its own industrial revolution until recently? Academicians and business historians have typically pointed out that China and England were overseen by different
regimes, that the serf-landowner relationship was different and that China was not open to any kind of change that an industrial revolution would have brought.
All of these assumptions are partially true, but academicians have noted, in recent years, some extra reasons for the disparities.
In this paper, weve examined some of those reasons. Though there is not much consensus, the theorists seem to agree that population trends, more than anything, probably led
