Either a company finds a way to make a profit and to sustain those profit margins over a period of years, or they are absorbed into the economy by other
companies. Most times the changes which need to be implemented are simple, yet effective, public relations tools and better communication between marketing and the general company. Vistakon, Inc. is a
division of the Johnson and Johnson Company, which produces a lengthy list of commercial and domestic healthcare products for families. Vistakon seems to have circumnavigated some of the inherent problems
that most businesses face which are privately owned by one family. The Johnson family, however, do not seem to have fallen prey to the practice of annually removing funds from
the company, leaving virtually very little money for upgrades and improvements. One specific example of how Vistakon, Inc. communicates regularly to all of its workers, from those working on
the lines to those involved in research and development, is to have annual team meetings. One part pep rally and one part informational meeting, the whole company is told the
good, bad and ugly of how the company is doing. Since this company allows and encourages participation of its workers in stock options and investments, matching their contributions in some
cases, the workers are eager to attend these meetings so that they can assess how their investments are paying off. During these meetings, Vistakon will unfold their new ideas for
