But there is more to a mission statement of an organization such as Turning Point than simply noting that the nursing staff is in business to provide
caring compassion and treating patients with dignity, while trying to make mental illness (especially among populations such as the homeless) less of an awful disease. There is the educational component
as well. For purposes of this paper, well assume that Turning Point Detox does have an educational component, and that it is a
training ground for nursing programs in educational institutions in the area. In conducting an educational needs assessment for the organization, we can see that, while there is a great deal
of emphasis placed on treating clients with kindness and dignity, there is not much on hand that helps develop nurses into leaders, with leadership capability. This is an absolutely necessary
educational component in any institution focusing on nursing (McIntosh et al, 2009). Granted, the type of institution that Turning Point is doesnt
focus primarily on a nurses education. The goal of Turning Point is to direct care to the underserved population of New Jersey. While this sound very noble in theory, dealing
with the "underbelly" of this community is anything but. Its gritty work, exhausting work, and there are times when the street people can put any thought of treating clients with
