determine the course of American History. With this in mind, then, how have the economic policies of various administrations determined the focus and direction of the country?
Imagine watching a small child playing with building blocks. First, one may observe him placing larger blocks on the bottom, and smaller ones on top.
Of course, it could be just the opposite, and the child, not having any type of plan before hand, just begins stacking the blocks however they will best balance on
the next block. Eventually, the whole structure comes falling down. Though the economic well being of the country is more than childs play, it could be equated along the same
lines as the building blocks: structure is everything and can even affect a countrys place in the global market place. Of course, Jimmy Carter, who was elected in the mid-seventies,
cannot be said to have enhanced global markets in pretty much anything. In fact, though his diplomatic issues were well received by history, the same historians blast him for his
lack of vision in the economic endeavors of his office. Carter showed himself to be capable of mounting a great campaign and so the country elected him, though he
really seemed to have been lacking a national political base at that time or even major backing. During Carters administration there was an attempt by Carter to portray himself
as a man of the people.. . just one of the ordinary joes trying to earn a living. Unfortunately, that didnt wash with a lot of the country and month
after month saw a rising resentment among those who had voted for him and those who wished they would have wakened from their democratic dreams of grandeur before Novembers election(Limbaugh).
