hackers, spammers and phishers. Hackers were not exactly new to the field of computer networks. But the Internet and e-commerce sites simply gave them more virtual waters from which to
troll everything from identities to credit card numbers. Its the risk of these cyber-criminals, along with the growing use of pure-play companies such
as eBay, that has prompted other "security issues," these involving prevention of everything from identities to sensitive financial information. eBay considers itself
a fairly secure website. It insists its users log in to their accounts whenever they want to buy or sell something, and payment is sent and received through encryption services
that contain a variety of security layers. Furthermore, the eBay servers themselves have huge firewalls and anti-virus engines geared to prevent even the most determined hacker from breaking in and
thieving. The problem, however, is that such security measures are rarely enough when it comes to hackers. It seems as though hackers are one step ahead of the security efforts,
which is why eBay (and others) end up in the headline of some tech publication that decries yet another security breach. In this
