the electronic equipment we use like computers, televisions, audio equipment, and cell phones. A report from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reported that in 2009, 438 million new computers were
old; 5 million tons of electronics were tucked away in storage; 2.37 million tons of electronics were at the end of their lives; and 25 percent of these tons were
collected for recycling (EPA, 2009). New gadgets and improvements to old gadgets like cell phones, computers, printers and so forth drive up the sales of new products. This means more
electronic products are in storage or should be at their end of life management phase. TVs and monitors were the greatest of these representing nearly half of the e-waste. In
2009, 29.4 million computer units were disposed of, 22.7 million TVs were disposed of; and 129 million mobile phones were disposed of (EPA, 2009). Of these, 18 million computers were
collected for recycling; 4.6 million TVs, and 11.7 million mobile phones were recycled (EPA, 2009). There is a discrepancy between the number of units disposed of and those collected for
recycling. The EPA report does comment that there is more recycling than in the past and they expect that rate to increase. Numerous state-level recycling programs have been initiated
and this will likely help in terms of managing e-waste, which in turn helps to manage toxic waste. Across the nation there are companies who deal with e-waste. Many
of these companies send the waste overseas, mostly to Asia, even though there are laws against this action (Elgin & Grow, 2008). One such company is Supreme Asset Management &
