cropped up in its stead. This is known as "e-garbage," also called "technotrash" (Parsons and Oja, 2010). E-garbage is all of the unwanted parts and tools from computers and electronics
- outdated computers and monitors, CDs, DVDs, old cell phones and so on. (Parsons and Oja, 2010). According to a recycling company called GreenDisk, approximately 1 billion floppy disks, CDs
and DVDs end up in landfills every year - and these landfills already have more than 2 million tons of computer and electronic parts (Parsons and Oja, 2010). Adding to
the issue is that these parts contain all kind of toxic substances including lead, cadmium and mercury (Parsons and Oja, 2010). In other words, its not bad enough that this
e-waste is filling up landfills; its also pouring toxic chemicals into the soil, which end up in the groundwater, and end up in the water systems. Furthermore some of these
chemicals could leach into the air, meaning eventually well be breathing it. This problem has become fairly widespread, with few,
if any, read solutions. Donations to a local school or church are one way to get rid of an old computer - the problem here is that many schools and
churches dont have the resources to repair old and broken computers (Parsons and Oja, 2010). Furthermore, a computer might be too old to work with todays graphic-intensive, faster software (Parsons
and Oja, 2010). But all isnt lost - some cities have specific recycling centers for electronics; as long as one is
a resident of a city (Dallas, Texas is one and there are others throughout the country), one can leave a computer with the particular specialized center. The problem with this,
