would receive loyalty points that can be redeemed for specialty food and other products or services. While such a program could seem
like a good idea in theory (after all, it seems as though there are a great many of such programs in the public eye), in reality, these are very tricky
to set up, and a great deal of preparation is needed to ensure that Kudler Fine Foods doesnt become the target of a privacy violation lawsuit. Legal, ethical and
security considerations Loyalty systems are great for vendors such as Kudler, in that they allow the company to collect customer-specific data. But lurking
behind such systems is the ever-present concern about invasion of privacy (Enzmann and Schneider, 2005). Customer fears that data might be sold to other parties, or in some way used
in a way that is not in their best interests can mean customers might not be so willing to sign up for such programs (Enzmann and Schneider, 2005). They would
need to be reassured that the data would only be used for Kudlers purposes. There are also legal considerations for a program like
this; customers need to have some kind of "opt-in" process to be put into a system. Most times, such a process involves the customers filling out a form, either at
the store or online, to agree to having his/her shopping processes monitored. The customer then receives a card, which he/she presents upon checkout.
