things. A business plan can be part of an overall strategy, and there can be a strategy to a business. But a business plan is a basic overall view of
a business, whereas a strategic plan looks at the business down the road, assesses potential changes, and then provides solutions for those changes.
The concept of e-business planning and e-strategic planning isnt too different from those of more traditional businesses, but there are some differences, and well follow what those are in
this paper. For one thing, an e-business plan does tend to differ from more traditional plans in a few areas (Henricks, 2000).
One of these is length - e-business plans tend to be shorter (and they need to be written more tightly than their more traditional counterparts) (Henricks, 2000).
In addition, e-business plans tend to show less financial detail than the more traditional plans might, mainly because the Internet economy is still new (Henricks,
2000). Market assessments, too, are vastly different - market size and customers are not important here, rather its the market opportunity that is the goal in this particular plan (Henricks,
2000). While market opportunities and financials might be briefer (though recently, capitalists are a little more nervous about e-business investment and might
want a stronger financial model), what does need to be emphasized is the e-business team and personnel (Henricks, 2000). Also, more than ever, customer focus and globalization are issues that
