race. His work is seen as a very powerful look at society, blacks, where black should take their lives, and how, society could be improved through the efforts and history
of the African Americans in the United States. The following paper looks at Dubois work from a conflict theory perspective. The paper first provides a brief look at conflict theory
and then moves into a focus on aspects of Dubois work that can be analyzed through conflict theory. Conflict Theory Conflict theory is essentially what it sounds like,
a theory that involves the reality of conflict and the natural existence of conflict, arguing that people are generally creatures that will experience and invoke conflict for one reason or
another. In essence human life is characterized, not by agreement, but by conflict and that all values and elements of reality are not equally distributed between people. In relationship
to groups of people there will always be power struggles because conflict is the norm. It is also noted that various groups must find some common ground, whether coerced or
not, in order for society to work. Even if they do not agree there must be a sense of balance, even if one group agrees to be oppressed because they
see they have no power to fight it, as perhaps is the case in the past of the African American. In society there will also be groups whose focus
is conflict and they aim at taking action against those groups that oppose them. Such groups can gain great power of the powerful force, or group, is not practical and
