size to become of the worlds 7th largest smelting company with a capacity of 960,000 tonnes in 2008 (Dubal, 2009). The main purpose of the firm is the smelting of
aluminium which is supplied to a wide range of clients located across 46 different countries (Dubal, 2009). The organization has a highly integrated structure, based in Jebel Ali, on
a single 480 hectare site, so all operations are focused in a single, large site (Dubal, 2009). To support the main operations there is a two berth port at the
facility a well as an electricity power generation station and a desalination plant capable of producing 30 million gallons of fresh water every day (Dubal, 2009). There are a
large number of stakeholders to this operation. One of the main stakeholder groups are the customers. In total there are 280 clients, all with differing needs. Like most purchasers of
aluminium they will want products that meet the required quality at a competitive price, which can be delivered on time and to the right place (Mintzberg et al, 2003). The
needs of these customers will vary as Dubal supplies a number of different industries including the automotive industry, construction and the sale of high purity aluminium to the electronic and
aerospace industries (Dubal, 2009). The firm must be satisfying these needs, evidenced by the continued growth, as seen in 2008 with the increased capacity that has been added to the
