This has been a serious issue concerning drug searches and searches for weapons in regards to lockers in the past. Today one of the problems may be the use of
drugs in high school athletes. With the growth in popularity of steroids in athletes more and more high school athletes are experimenting. The following paper argues that high school athletes
should undergo mandatory drug testing for a number of reasons, not the least of which is their health and the future of their health. Drug Testing for High
School Athletes The general notion of testing for drugs in relationship to high school athletes is that which involves the use of drugs, any drugs, as they involve students involved
in extracurricular activities in school. This approach applies to people who are in various clubs in school, after school hours, and people involved in sports as well. The following presents
one element of this political and national struggle: "On June 26, 1995, the United States Supreme Court ruled in Vernonia Sch. Dist. 47J v. Acton that middle-school and high-school athletes
can be required to submit to suspicionless drug tests as a condition of athletic participation...the response was initially tepid: as of January 1996, six months after the ruling, only 1
percent of the countrys 16,000 public high schools had implemented random drug-testing programs" (Taylor). According to Taylor many schools cannot really afford the
