Further, it has also been suggested that illegal substance abuse itself is a crime, and often individuals seek out other criminal acts to pay for their substance abuse problem. Behaviorists and other psychologists have recognized the need to address the factors that lead to drug abuse in assessing the connection between drug misuse and the onset of antisocial behaviors. In order to consider the nature of the connection between drug misuse and antisocial behaviors, it is important to consider the studies conducted by psychologists like Davies (1998), who recognized that individuals can create a kind of social "culture" that supports drug misuse and antisocial behaviors. Further, it is also valuable to recognize the impacts of group process and the way in which parents play a major role in the onset of problematic behaviors and drug misuse in adolescent populations.
