Dr. Rami Geffner administered a local anesthetic when Lisa visited his Toms River, New Jersey office, then proceeded to remove ten ounces of fat from the girls knee and
thigh areas through the process of liposuction. After completion of the fat removal, Dr. Geffner used Ace bandages to wrap the patients legs then Lisa went on her way,
Dr. Geffner went on to his next patient, and life went on as usual (Cohen, Pasternak & Streisand 56). Life only went on as usual for Lisa, however, for a
very short time. The next day, a blood clot caused by excessive tightness of the Ace bandaging moved into Lisas lung. At 23, Lisa Marie Marinelli was dead.
Not as a result of the actions of her plastic surgeon, however, nor from a complication resulting from a surgical room procedure. Dr. Rami Geffner was Lisas dermatologist,
and he had performed the liposuction in his regular clinic (Cohen, Pasternak & Streisand 56). Alarmingly, what happened to Lisa Marie Marinelli is happening in an increasing number of incidents
all across the country. Lisa had gone to see Dr. Geffner for treatment of a simple skin rash, but while waiting in his outer office had picked up a
