tumbling along with his jeep down the incline, flipping more than three times before coming to a jarring stop. The line of drivers also waiting for the signal change
watched in horror as he lay motionless - and upside down - in the now-mangled vehicle. Soon sirens were heard racing up the ramp, officers rushing over to the
man without a moment to lose. The nightmare only became worse as it played on in my head. Is he alive? I wondered, as my eyes would not turn
away from the scene. His lifeless body hung halfway out of the roll cage; his seatbelt was responsible for holding him inside throughout the three full revolutions. Just
then his entire body lurched forward out of the wreckage, he staggered and fell, his bloody face dazed with confusion. I heard him ask what happened, as though he
had had no recollection of the accident at all; the two men who had sideswiped him approached to explain. The young man sat up, wavered a bit and looked over
at his crumpled jeep; it was then that his eyes widened with disbelief and he began lamenting aloud at his obvious loss. It was interesting how he had no
comprehension of his own injuries, his only concern being that of his totaled vehicle. The police interrogated the two men, who, it turned out, had been drinking and driving,
with the alcohol test at more than double the legal alcohol limit. Needless to say, no amount of remorse or apology was going to spare these men of stiff
legal retribution. But just as the police were escorting the drunken drivers to the patrol car, the two men whipped around and disengaged from the grip of the officers
