is a term generally used to refer to straight black men who are married, or in a relationship with a woman, and who have sex with other men. It is
apparently a very big problem among many communities and clearly speaks of the general term down low, in terms of secrecy. The following paper examines down low and how it
can, and does, affect marriages and families. Down Low "Down low is the term used to describe the behavior of Black
men who secretly have sex with other men while in marriages or relationships with other women. The men who do this do not consider themselves to be gay" (Houston, 2005).
The term used, that of down low, apparently began as a term utilized in the black community and as such is used primarily, all but exclusively, to describe black men
who engage in this behavior but of course men of any race can, and do, engage in such behavior (Houston, 2005). In many respects it is not simply an African
American issue, or a gay issue, but rather an issue involving infidelity. It is just another form of infidelity and as such likely has the same issues, in relationship to
marriage and family, which all forms of infidelity have, although there are also additional problems. In this form of infidelity, instead of the partner cheating on a woman with a
woman they are cheating with another man. Houston (2005) presents a brief examination of one individuals problem: "Terry McMillans situation is by no means unique. The situation is common
