itself has potential benefits in terms of market power as well as economies of scope and scale. Additionally, this acquisition would give
Dow access to markets that were highly regulated and it has not been able to enter, specifiable Central and Eastern European countries. As Dow Chemicals was moving from a
general to a more specialised company this fitted in well with the general strategy. However, there were also some risks, the two firms
operated differently, Dow had a highly standardise approach towards IT aimed at creating efficiency, the approach and culture at Wolff Wolsrode was one that gave customers more individual attention,
the integration would require Wolff Wolsrode to adapt to the Dow IT system,, which could posse practical well as cultural challenges that may hinder the integration and cause resistance.
Dow would also have to adapt, to meet the Wolff Wolsrode customer needs and expectation with more personalised service, if they could not do this they may loose many of
the customers that they had acquired and were needed for value to be gained from the acquisition. Question 2 - IT Integration Given the different approaches of the
two firm towards IT and the different needs of the Wolff Wolsrode customers it may be argued that full integration would be too risky for both the employees and the
