He referred to a group of female basketball players as essentially being "nappy headed hos" and was quickly fired because of the social outcry against such a statement (Arango [2],
2007). However, he is fighting back arguing that his First Amendment rights were violated through is dismissal. The following paper argues how Don Imus was likely wrongfully treated because the
media today demonstrates a great deal of racist ideals, including comments by various figures, that does not result in their being fired. Don Imus: Wrongfully Treated? What Don
Imus said was an incredibly racist and sexist remark. He ultimately belittled African Americans and women in general, offering himself as an arrogant and ignorant man. With such a ridiculous
and ignorant statement he has clearly put himself in a position wherein people think very little of him as a human being for we live in a nation that strives
for equality and justice. But, at the same time, as a citizen of this nation, he has the ultimate right to say anything he wants to say. What he said
is wrong, to be sure, but it is really not any worse than many other things said in public, in music, and in the privacy of the homes of every
citizen. The following outlines the foundations of this particular case: "For Imus, who made a career out of operating in the murky space between sophomoric humor and high-brow political talk,
there is the little matter of about $40 million left on his contract with CBS Radio - whose boss Les Moonves fired the shock jock on April 12. CBS lawyers
contend Imus was fired for cause and not owed the rest of the money" (Arango [2], 2007). Apparently, however, his contract states that he is to essentially be given
