Domestic acts of terrorism have had a definitive impact on US society. When we
think of domestic terrorism in the US we typically think primarily of September 11, 2001, that ill-fated day in history where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in
New York had just disintegrated before our eyes as a result of a terrorist plane attack and even the Pentagon had been attacked. There have, however, been many acts
of domestic terrorism in the past few decades. Each has had a progressive impact on American society. Some contend this impact has been more deleterious than positive.
We not only have to deal with the physical and emotion scars caused by acts of terrorism, we have to deal with the societal scars caused by our reaction to
terrorism. Domestic terrorism has indeed had troubling impacts on our national stance as when we consider the whole. Perhaps even more troubling is the fact that our awareness
of the potential impact of those impending scars was heightened even when they were first being created. One has to only review the literature of the period to confirm
