United States. People need to be buckled up. But, at the same time many people may well argue that wearing a seat belt will not save someones life, or that
using seat belts can sometimes cause injuries. There are people who argue that seat belts can be faulty and that perhaps pregnant women should not wear them in light of
the possibility of injury to the fetus. But, from a very logical perspective it also seems that wearing a seat belt is likely to be far more beneficial and helpful
in saving ones life or reducing injury than the alternative of not wearing a seat belt. With all of this in mind, the following paper examines both sides of the
issue and looks at statistics to uncover whether or not wearing seat belts saves lives in most cases. The paper ultimately demonstrates that wearing seat belts does save lives through
the statistics available. Does the Use of Seat Belts Save Lives? In looking at this particular topic one could perhaps assume that some people will argue that
people can be injured severely through the use of a seat belt which would indicate that perhaps in some cases there are problems with seat belts. As one author notes,
"People have long debated whether seatbelt failure problems should make us avoid wearing seat belts altogether for a safer driving experience" (Anapol Schwartz). This author, a member of a law
firm, indicates how "we cant be sure how many people have died or have been injured due to seatbelt failure (Anapol Schwartz). But, they also, as a lawyer, indicates that
the law as well as experts clearly support wearing seat belts because "There are very real statistics to back up the importance of seatbelt safety. Seatbelt problems are not normal"
