help them reach competency (National Educational Technology Standards Project, 2005). We all know the world has changed and it keeps changing rapidly. Advances in information technology continue to be made
regularly and frequently. In this very week, Apples iPhone was released, a major breakthrough in information technology, according to some folks. This world runs on information and any individual who
is not capable will lose out. That all being true, we need to investigate this specific question because we need to know if technology does indeed make a different in
student learning. Does it increase academic learning and achievement? Does it have positive social effects on students, such as increasing motivation or enhancing self-esteem? It is expensive to outfit a
classroom with state-of-the art technology, it must be worth the expense. Part 2. Examples of studies investigating this question There are many excellent examples of how technology is
