book published several years ago. The blog is largely a literature review that looks at the conundrum but one is still left with the question of whether or not IT
matters. The author relays a part of a critique on the book itself as follows: " Through astute analysis of historical and contemporary examples, Carr shows that the evolution
of IT closely parallels that of earlier technologies such as railroads and electric power" (qtd. in Carr, 2008). In the context of the actual book, Carr (2004) does explain
that while IT is something that was developed some time ago, it did not really become popular or necessary until the 1990s. Indeed, the world has changed immensely from the
1990s on, but it is precisely because of the change that makes the argument all the more plausible. IT matters largely because it is everywhere. Does
IT really matter? Whether IT matters is a question that continues to be asked. For the most part, the answer will be yes, but there are reservations. As
Carr (2008) points to the naysayers, there is no proof that IT does matter. Similarly, there is no proof that God exists, but many believe in Him. Of course, proving
IT matters is a much simpler task. Similar to the critique just relayed about the book, it is noted that IT parallels other technology (Carr, 2008). An important point then
