change the way people work at an astonishing rate (Older Workers At a Cross Road Around the World, 2003). Many older workers are simply ill-equipped for todays marketplace in
terms of technology, regardless of how dedicated they are in terms of a work ethic (Older Workers At a Cross Road Around the World, 2003). These workers often have
difficulty finding work and/or have trouble adapting to new situations within their current workplace, as is the case with the example provided (Older Workers At a Cross Road Around the
World, 2003). Therefore, the problem in this provided example appears to be that this older worker is unwilling to adapt
to his new environment and job responsibilities. This is not to say that this isnt understandable, because it actually is. Here is a bright, dedicated worker who has
spent his entire career functioning without having to use a computer. Now, at the age of 60, his employer is asking that he make a radical change and indeed
learn how to use the computer for his job. Sam is resistant to this and at 60 years old one can easily see why. He likely anticipates a
real struggle in terms of learning this technology and probably figures that he has gone this far in his career without having to use a computer so why cant he
just continue. Furthermore, he probably has figured in his own mind ways of accomplishing the job without having to employ the use of a computer.
On the other hand I, as his employer, also have a valid point. I believe that my company is loosing qualified applicants due to Sams
