The view from the company is that the diversity that they embrace is more than the socially responsible and ethically correct; it is also part of their strategy in the market place. It may be argued that unless there was the diverse cultural base there may not be the ability to offer comer support in over 150 languages and telephone bills that can be produced in both English and Spanish. The company has a large number customer from minorities, this is aided with the diverse approach to marketing and communications; SBC working with a number of minority owned communications agencies ensure that the messages are not only sent, but also received by the diverse customer base as well as other minatory owned suppliers with more than $600 million a year spent, this creates a great deal of potential input which helps with a range of issues from fraud and theft detection.
