Executive Summary Cingular are a very diverse aware company. The make up of the employee base reflect this diversity, with 42% of the workforce coming from ethnic minority groups and
more than 50% being women. The management team also reflects this level of diversity with half of the senior executives coming from ethnic minorities and/or being women. The diversity
strategies only start with the recruitment, there are training programs for all employees when the join the firm as well as ongoing training, not only to develop sensitivity, but on
more practical issues such as developing effective communication. These have lead to a positive diversity culture and one that has lead to the firm being names in many top company
lists for diversity. The good record does not mean that there is no room for improvement, to the contrary, there is both room, and the will for improvement. To
determine the best way to move forward there needs to be more research to ask the employees how to improve their perception of diversity management, this may include more flexibilty
to secular festivals and increased communication between tams and company groups. The research will help to find the most effective ways that will have a positive impact on employee perceptions,
