author Robert A. Levy provides a commentary on the issue of gun control or, more specifically, the Supreme Court ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller (2007), a case concerning
the Second Amendment rights to possess a firearm for the purposes of self defense at that persons home. Levys article is informative in nature and it is geared towards
those readers who are seeking clarification on the validity of gun control laws. Levy (2008) presents the thesis that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalias ruling "reinvigorated the Second Amendment",
an Amendment that, in part, assures our right to bear arms. Indeed, this ruling serves to reassure Americans that we do have a right to have firearms and that
when laws are written counteracting that right they are in actuality unconstitutional. In District of Columbia v. Heller (2007), Heller
challenges three specific laws that have been passed in Washington DC over time. The first of these laws banned handguns that were acquired after 1976. While this law
acted indirectly at least to grandfather in handguns obtained before that time, the second law in question actually banned individuals carrying those handguns from "room to room without a permit"
