His stories dealt with many common individuals, and the stories that came from those common individuals. From religious men to simple Shipman, Chaucer presents us with a wealth of information
concerning the people of his time period. As one author states, Chaucers tales are "the original lewd, crude, and humorously realistic take on human nature" (Anonymous The Canterbury Tales canterbu.htm).
In the following paper we focus on a few of the stories, first comparing and contrasting the Millers tale and the Reeves tale to the Knights tale. The paper then
discusses the use of deception in the Wife of Baths tale and the Physicians tale. The Millers Tale and the Reeves Tale In presenting the stories, in the
briefest detail, we detail first the Millers tale. In the Millers tale we are given a young and beautiful woman who wants more than is offered by her husband. She
and her lover trick her husband into thinking another flood, such as seen by Noah, is coming. He holes himself up and they engage in their affair. In the Reeves
tale we have a dishonest miller who has a well bred and pretentious wife. The miller tries to deceive two students who, in turn seduce the wife and/or daughter of
the miller. In the end a ridiculous fight breaks out wherein the students seem to win, dress themselves and eating before departing. The miller is left to essentially pay the
price of his dishonesty. The Knights Tale This is a story of two knights who have fallen in love with one woman. The story is about Arcite and
Palamon who are imprisoned. They are miserable until they see Emelye, whom they are powerfully taken with. Years go by and their love, or infatuation, has not receded. At one
