Telecommuters typically spend less time than office-bound workers in meetings, answering phones and performing other activities that take time away from the project. Telecommuters often are more productive
than their office-oriented counterparts, but some may have time management problems or have children present, which can be difficult to overcome. All team
members should have a clear view of the role they are expected to play in their projects, whether the team works in the same physical building or is spread throughout
the world, across cultural regional boundaries and without regard for time. All team members should be aware of the projects milestone schedule and know which milestone their current tasks
belong to as a categorization tool. They also should have ready access to other team members. Communication often is the underlying cause of problems within the project team,
and the dispersion of individuals that telecommuting allows more readily supports less communication rather than more. Narrowly-defined tasks have deadlines, which team members
- telecommuting or not - must meet. Low-performing team members can be required to supply regular progress reports to the project manager. As the project manager must regularly
report on the projects progress, it is reasonable that team members should do the same. Weekly reports should be sufficient from most team members, low-performing ones should make formal
reports more frequently. Cultural Hindrances It is common in Asia to take a circular view of time, rather than the linear view common
