in any small community has a multitude of jobs that he or she must fulfill. Many small communities combine several positions into one because of budget issues. Taking
a position in a small community can be very rewarding considering the more laid-back attitude and less harried lifestyle of the large metropolitan areas. While these smaller communities oftentimes
cannot pay what the bigger ones can, the benefits one receives in other ways can be just as rewarding. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Normally a bachelors degree in parks and recreation
management is a minimum requirement. Usually for a position as Director of Recreation a community will require previous experience as well. Many communities, even the smaller ones, will
require experience not only in the parks department area but also will require several years of supervisory experience and several years of administrative experience. In some cases additional education
can be substituted for some of the years of experience that are required. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES While many individuals who are considering this line of work feel that
this is a job that would be easily fulfilled, it might be well to do a little more research into what the requirements can actually entail. Some communities will
require knowledge of landscape design and plant management; budgeting and finance acumen; excellent writing and grammar skills and very importantly, people skills. For those who think this will be a
