others, though these two women have done their work in very different circles. These women share some common characteristics, including strength in the face of adversity, intestinal fortitude, and
conviction. Hillary Rodham Clinton stands as a very intriguing individual in the political arena today. As the ex-first lady of the United States she was generally a very noble and
dignified woman who never allowed any personal emotions to come into the forefront of her life in the media. Even following the scandal of her husbands presidency, she did not
let such emotions thwart her own political career. She has always been secure in her sense of self and has never solely defined herself as one thing; never just
a senator, never just a wife, never just a woman. Condoleeza Rice has also demonstrated her qualities as a dignified, intelligent and complex person. Though her appointment
to her position as Secretary of the Department of State was marked as a milestone in African American history (she is the first Black woman cabinet appointee), she has demonstrated
herself to be more than just a social or racial icon. Instead, Condoleeza Rice has shown her ability to make decisions, be a part of international discourse, and embrace
the complexities of a presidency in the throws of war. Hillary Clinton also faced considerable challenges following her husbands scandalous presidency. There were questions about Hillary Clintons
role in the Whitewater scandal and the mass media coverage of her husbands adultery led many to believe her political career was over in 2000. But Clinton had made
