Of course, for an increasing number of children, these conditions do not reflect reality at all. As divorce becomes increasingly more common, the issue of child psychology has the potential to be deeply impacted. According, the specific psychological and other impacts wrought upon children by the divorce of their parents, if any, must be explored and analyzed across a number of dimensions. This paper will explore those dimensions in hopes of answering the question of whether or not parental divorce enacts some harm upon children. This paragraph helps the student summarize both of the positions on the issue. In regards to the issue of the impact divorce might have upon students, it is important to note the fact that there is as of yet no official consensus on the matter of whether not any negative effects actually exist at all. While there have been many studies which cite the emergence of troublesome psychological traits in children after the divorce of their parents, it is much easier to establish a correlation than it is a causation. In other words, there are any number of explanations for the emergence of such traits, and it is still debatable to what extent divorce plays in the process. That said, the sheer prevalence of such studies does seem to suggest that some kind of causal relationship exists between divorce and the tendency for children of divorced families to have trouble psychologically dealing with relationship-oriented matters such as commitment and trust. Literature Review While there are still some points of contention, it seems practically certain by this point that a number of demonstrable and measurable negative impacts are facilitated by experiencing divorce.
