are that all organizations are run in a like fashion, using typical organization and management models. While public organizations more likely than not resemble the bureaucratic paradigm, some of that
type of organization does seep into the public sector. Insurance companies for example are notoriously problematic and to some extent "look like" public organizations while they are firms that are
either privately owned or have share holders. And while one can glean from a brief description that perhaps the main variances between private and public faculties is the way they
are run, that is only skimming the surface. The organizational culture is clearly different and it will be shown that this territory is quite complicated. The distinctions to some
extent might shape ones view of administration and politics. After all, administration and politics are to some extent inextricable. Government run facilities are tied to politicians and what politicians do
after elected provides a backdrop for what will go on in the future. Thus, another obvious difference between the public and private sector mentality is that the boss is "the
people"--via the politicians who purportedly represent the people--versus an individual or a group of share holders. Before going on, another striking difference is the organizations mission or purpose. Public sector
organizations have the goal of serving the people or providing a service or condition. A private organization has the goal of profiting, unless it is a nonprofit organization. Of course,
nonprofits are different animals and are really somewhat unlike either the typical public or private sector organization. First, it should be noted that many people in the past
have taken jobs with the government due to its perceived safety. The public sector has had the reputation of providing stellar benefits even though salary had not been very strong.
