1997 and 2003, there was a 74 percent increase in new cases (BBC, 2009). By 2005, it was estimated that more than four percent of the entire population in Britain
had diabetes (BBC, 2009). By 2009, more than two million people were diagnosed with this disease and it is estimated that about half-million more have it and dont know it
(Diabetes UK, 2009). Most of the patients have type 2 diabetes. A definite correlation between obesity and type 2 has been found (BBC, 2009) and we all know the incidence
of obesity is growing dramatically each year. Type 1 diabetes requires insulin, whether by injection or orally. Patients with type 2 diabetes need help to improve their lifestyle in order
to control the disease. This exponential increase in the number of patients has led to the Diabetic Management Centre growing as it tries to provide management care and prevention education
along with research for new treatments and new management techniques. No one expected this rate of growth in diabetic patients. It has been difficult for all diabetic management centers to
keep up with the need. At this time, the Centre provides a great deal of support for clients. The venues are telephone calls, e-mails, distance learning classes, and a
great deal of information on their Web site. This type of support is referred to as remote because it does not involve face-to-face interactions. The growth in patients leaves the
Centre needing to hire more counselors to help clients manage their diabetes. Further, the Centre wants to provide more in-person help rather than have all support remotely. The plan
is to hire Healthy-Living Counselors who will provide hands-on help and support to patients. This position is part-time, 3-4 days per week. The Centre will provide a facility as well
