system designed by Lever-Duffy and McDonald (2008) allows teachers to address the task of developing a workshop systematically. The first phase of this model is to design, that is, determine
the focus for the workshop. The design process offers the workshop presenter an opportunity "to plan for and articulate every essential ingredient in the instructional unit" to be presented to
participants (Lever-Duffy and McDonald, 2008, p. 73). The planning stage "brings the instructional design down to Earth," as it moves the "planning process from a systems model" to a usable
and practical template that can guide the implementation of the design in the actual workshop (Lever-Duffy and McDonald, 2008 p. 74). The final step, the action step, indicates everything that
is required in order to have the planned workshop agenda take place successfully (Lever-Duffy and McDonald, 2008). This workshop will be designed to meet the needs of teachers of
K-second grade whose classes are diverse in nature and composed primarily of English language learners (ELLs) for whom Spanish is the their primary language. The purpose of the workshop is
to demonstrate how technology standards can be incorporated into their classroom instruction. The State of New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) states in standard 8.1 that all "students will use
computer applications to gather and organize information and to solve problems" (NJDOE, 2006). Students should master the basic computer skills and tools that are associated with this standard by fourth
grade. Therefore, beginning from Kindergarten, student should be exposed to the basic computer skills and vocabulary. Young and Smith (2007) describe a project that fulfills this standard and provides
a basic design template that can be readily adapted to the needs and cognitive level of students in K-2. This project is entails creating a computer diary that reflects the
