stagy. In a company such as this, such as the case provided by the student, there is a need for a strategy to develop technology so that it will add
increased value to the organisation. If we look at a this company we can see that technology is used in a variety of ways, technology that was developed for internal
use is now bringing in external revenue, which provides up to 50% of the financing, however the department is running at a loss, as it does not actually produce anything,
and has found that as a supplier of IT systems and consultancy work the diversification has reduced that loss. The profitable divisions are the manufacturing division and the resourcing
division. Both use technology internally, and the manufacturing division use technology externally. Therefore we can see there are many departments, and to create a strategy the first and overriding principle
must be the increase of profits by lessening costs, creating more sales, and/or adding more value. A business existing, mostly. To create profit, otherwise investors would not place money in
the shares, therefore this needs to be a major consideration, measures that decrease costs also need to be considered for their implementation costs. To formulate the strategy there are
several needs, we will look at some of these needs and consider how they may impact overall strategy. The first consideration must be the way that the technology is used
