locate one another across vast geographical distances, engage in meaningful communication, and work together on projects. This too has changed the shape of business such that the most competitive businesspeople
setting out on new ventures will invariably engage in a great deal of networking effort in order to ensure that their venture is supported by the most invested, learned, and
committed team of associates, investors, advisors, and coaches they can possibly find. The result is, of course, that business ventures are now more competitive than ever. For this reason, the
startup venture that does not take advantage of networking is destined to fail. This paper will explore the importance of creating a brain trust to support ones venture, as well
as the efforts required to do so. Before moving on to the particular steps required to form a proactive brain trust to support ones venture, one must understand exactly
what is meant by a brain trust. Simply put, it is a group of individuals who, through their combined expertise and commitment to the venture, help to guide the venture
in the right direction. This includes not only team members, but, critically, external members as well. These external members might include coaches hired on, mentors with whom one has networked,
or even investors. In fact, investors in a venture often fill an advisory role because they, of course, have a vested interest in whether or not the venture succeeds (if
it does, theyll make their money back). The first step in developing a powerful brain trust is to identify the needs of ones venture. A useful brain trust is
