34(5)). Yuppies, irregardless of whatever ills they might represent to their critics, have brought awareness of international cuisine to the world. The
main reason that this is true is that a large number of yuppies traveled the world either during their college years or for the business entities for which they worked,
or both. When they returned to a "meat and potatoes" America, it just didnt suit their newly acquired tastes, nor their desire for health. They wanted more.
But these arent the only reasons. Remember, yuppies started the expression, "Lets have lunch." It is hard to define the exact type
of food that a yuppie eats because this can be related to any fad that took place in the 1980s and 1990s or before, anywhere the business professional has traveled
and what foods he or she is interested in introducing to business associates. In addition, yuppies were raised on certain foods to which they may be nostalgic, and their
choices may even be influenced by more esoteric ideas like "growing their own." The reason all of these facts are true is that yuppies, no matter their weaknesses, are
explorers (even if out of boredom), and it is impossible to determine what an explorer might find interesting. As a result of the variety in yuppie tastes, they can
be observed frequenting an eclectic mix of restaurants. To be successful in a yuppie environment, restaurant owners hope to draw the attention of the crowd.
