the introduction of strategies to help the firm achieve specific performance goals which are related to employee performance. To consider how this
may be undertaken the first stage is identify a company that the process may be applied to and then consider the measures that may be used considering them in the
context of both the importance to the customer and the way that the firm can be placed in terms of the way that it is satisfying these performance measures next
to the competition. The company to be assessed is a chain of coffee shops selling gourmet coffee1, the firm is competing with companies such as Starbucks and even McDonalds
which has started to sell its own gourmet coffee., the firm needs to compete and part of this will be leveraging human capital (Mintzberg et al, 2008; 2003).
One of the main areas of performance for the firm will be the product; in order for customers to return and the
firm to be successful the quality of the product is an issue. However, this an issue that is not totally under the control of the employees, there are impact such
as the quality of the beans that are used. However, the perceived quality of the product does have a high level of
