Training is building a new facility and has come to the point of addressing layout of the physical workspace and arrangement of the hardware that the consultancys personnel will use.
The purpose here is to address establishing the arrangement of the physical workspace so that common groups (i.e., marketing, accounting, etc.) can be working together and in a manner
in which KnowItAll gains greatest protection in terms of security, data retention and usability of the network. Facility Needs From the outset, there
will be eight distinct groups working together in the new facility. They are Reception, Human Resources, Accounting, Marketing, Training, Consulting, Customer Support and Network Administration. Current plans call
for hardware and networking sufficient only for current needs, with no scalability built in to allow for future growth. Adding any additional employees in the future would require reworking
of the network according to current plans. The cost of network infrastructure components is negligible compared to the cost of reworking the entire
network in the future. KnowItAlls management should ensure that there are additional spaces available on the network so that additional employees essentially can be "plugged in" as the company
grows (Berman, Drezner and Wesolowsky, 2001). If the consultancy does not grow in this manner right away, the cost of added network capability not being used at present still
will be negligible. Consensus is that "once work begins they will have a better feel if this arrangement works," but again, alteration is much more costly than is good
planning at the beginning. Further, several departments want to have space for meetings where attendees are able to use their laptops and presenters have sufficient hardware available to make
