is the story of the evil deceitfulness of one man, Iago, who is jealous and vindictive and pushes Othello to the point where he murders his wife for her unfaithfulness,
although she was never unfaithful. His wife, on the other hand, has loved him completely, and loves him even as she dies at his hand. We see that there is
love between the two, but we may ask ourselves if their love would have succeeded without Iagos interference. The following paper examines the relationship of Othello and Desdemona, discussing if
their relationship could have survived without interference and coercion from others. Desdemona and Othello In the beginning, when Desdemona returns to her home and she returns with a
husband, an outsider, a man of royalty, and a man who is black, both Desdemona and Othello must face Desdemonas father and other noble individuals. In many ways they are
all aghast that she has chosen this man to be her husband, without her fathers consent, and they speak with Othello first. He tells them, as a noble and honorable
man would: "I do beseech you,/ Send for the lady../And let her speak of me before her father:/ If you do find me foul in her report,/....let your sentence/ Even
fall upon my life" (Shakespeare I iii). In this he is leaving it all up to his wife and her father, nobly demonstrating that he does love her and that
she him. He has a great deal of faith in her love of him at this point. When Desdemona arrives she tells them that she is very much a
woman and very much in love with this man, whether they accept that or not. She states, "I am hitherto your daughter: but heres my husband,/ And so much duty
