avoid detrimental impact that can manifest itself in the form of various cancers, depression, lupus, cardiovascular problems and Crohns disease, just to name a few. Not only can stress
influence the onset of the disease, but mental anxiety can also inhibit effective healing, as well (Hermon-Taylor et al, 1998). Psychological stress is linked with just about every aspect
of contemporary life; people are ill-equipped to deal with the daily demands that have escalated over the past century, with the population as a whole being forced to assume more
and more responsibility in an already overloaded society. The body is quick to negatively manifest the overwhelming pressures of life in the form of disease -- which is "essentially
a reaction between individuals and the stresses and adverse factors of their physical, biological and social milieu, and how we respond is governed by genetic make-up" (Dobson, 1997, pp. 44-45)
