usually something that manifests over time, and lasts. A blue mood for a day or two is not depression. Further, there are many different types and is something that can
only be diagnosed by a professional. In general, an ordinary clinical depression or even one that is not as bad perhaps is attached to certain signs and symptoms. Petrecca
explains: " Changes in sleep patterns, decreased energy, and persistent feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, or negativity are red flags that should be evaluated for depression" (152). Again, there are
different types of depression. A major depressive disorder is something that impairs ones ability to eat, work or sleep normally ("All About"). It is something that causes them to look
at the world in a negative manner and may occur more than once in an individuals lifetime ("All About"). A dysthymic disorder is milder than a major depression but lasts
much longer ("All About"). People with this type of depression seem to be a bit depressed all of the time and it is part of their personality ("All About").
Bipolar disorder, unlike ordinary depression, is when a person swings between periods of highs and lows ("All About"). While the highs may sound good, the mania that comes about can
impair a persons judgment ("All About"). They may for example steal or leave to go on a trip without making any real plans or provisions. They sometimes get into trouble
