to educating veterans and their families about PTSD, its causes and potential impacts, and its treatment. One of the VAs more successful attempts to accomplish this goal is the
website established by their National Center for PTSD (2009) found at http://www.ptsd.va.gov/index.asp. This website is multidimensional in its content and not only provides information directly to the veterans, it
provides them easily-accessible links to information that can be obtained from non-military sources. For generations we as a society have blamed such manifestations
as PTSD on some sort of mental inferiority. We have looked down on those with the condition as being failures at controlling their own emotions. We now know
that PTSD has its roots in very real emotional trauma. It is just one of the many mental illnesses that claim thousands of victims every year. It is
only shameful when we do not attempt to get to the bottom of that trauma and its impact on us and our loved ones. One means of instilling a
better understanding of PTSD is education. The National Center for PTSDs (2009) website should be very much appreciated by those searching for information on this condition. The website stands
out, in fact, when compared to the less than commendable government websites that so many of us have grown familiar with since the emergence of the World Wide Web.
