Since the 1980s and 1990s when conservative politics begin to make their most recent historical upswing, conservatives have had tremendous impacts on U.S. society. Conservatives have
influenced our government, our businesses, our healthcare, our housing, and in essence most aspects of our lives to one degree or another. The point must be made, however, that
the conservatives exist in contrast to a very liberal political force. To be understood they must be examined in relation to that force. In essence these two forces
serve to balance one another out in both the political and the societal arena. Conservative politics power the world as we know it.
They are interwoven not just in our governmental processes but in practically all of our societal interactions. Not only can conservative politics be equated with power, critics contend
they are often a matter of taste, a very one-sided and ethnocentric taste focusing primarily on the wants of the white middle and upper classes that form the mainstream of
American society. The reality is, however, that there are two political camps impacting American society. The conservatives represent just one of those camps and cannot, in fact, be
