Execution The process of facing death, whatever the reason for the death, is generally assumed to have a standard sort of procedure, so to speak. Of course such a standard
does not necessarily apply to someone who dies without any knowledge of the impending death such as would be experienced in a car crash or a shooting. Those who have
been told they will die, however, do go through varying levels of a process when facing that inevitable death. While many people not think about the similarities, people knowing
they will be executed on death row, and people who are dying from a disease such as cancer, both know that their death is coming within a finite amount of
time and as such both must openly face that impending death. In many ways a person who enters into warfare can perhaps be said to experience similar feelings, believing that
the chances are good they will not get out alive. In discussing these similarities and differences we first look at the amount of control people have in these situations
concerning their death. In the case of individuals diagnosed with cancer who have gone through all the treatments possible and know that the battle is over, they may well feel
they have no power over their death. The only power they possess is in how they choose to die, how they choose to accept the inevitable.
This is the same with a person facing death through execution, if they are of a mind to even think about it sanely. Some people who
