others it is still used or available and there have been calls for the death penalty to be reinstated in some areas. The feeling concerning the use of the death
penalty may have many influences; these can include aspects such as experience and culture. In this research there is an examination of certain demographic patterns, looking at the influence of
gender, religion and race on views concerning the death penalty. The sample size was 50, made up of 26 males and 24 females. The student is advised to examine
their results as some of the answers have more than a total of 50 answers, it maybe possible that some respondents have answered for more than one category or there
is an addition error (as some sample groups add up to more than 50. The first question asks whether the respondents support the death penalty, these answers are divided
down by gender, religion and race. Figure 1 shows the results by gender Figure 1 Support for death by gender This indicates an overwhelming support for the death penalty
by males; just over 80% of the male sample does support the death penalty whereas only 45% of females support the death penalty. It may be argued this is
a nature or a nurture difference or may be explained by another factor however whatever the reason for the difference this is statistically significant and should be considered as such
