This paper gives examples of some of the scenarios that could occur in a typical day care setting. Examples Activity 1.14, page 24: Ben observes Toby riding a tricycle
for 45 minutes. Toby at first has trouble getting the pedals to work properly, but then begins to ride around and around and keeps going until its time for
refreshments. Toby has shown that he has the ability to solve problems, and that he will not give up until he does. In this case, he was able to get
the pedals to work and enjoy riding; the fact that he rode constantly for 45 minutes is a clear indication of the fact that this activity is very important to
him. In this case, he should be praised for solving the problem. There also appears to be no difficulty with him riding for such a long period of time. However,
if someone else had wanted to ride the tricycle, he would have had to share it. This may be a new concept for Toby. If it is, the caregiver should
explain that while its a lot of fun to ride, he must be willing to let others have a turn if theyre waiting. She might also point out that since
he enjoys it so much, he can understand that others would like it as well. By appealing to Toby as an "expert" on the subject since hes been riding so
much, the caregiver might be able to use his experience as a way to reach him. Activity 4.19, page 193: Potential hazards to the children are listed, along with
