known name, creating work that is thought provoking, yet incredibly simplistic in many ways. From graphic art to directing moving images David Carson is a very powerful figure. The following
paper examines his work. David Carson In first understanding something of Carson and his work the essay first turns to one of the first pages in Lewis Blackwell
and David Carsons book "The End of Print," wherein one author notes that when he was going to school he had a professor claim that type was dead, that there
was nothing more that could be done with type as an art form so to speak. This author notes that "Well it came as a big pleasure to see Davids
book published...but my teachers truly did believe type was dead...message here...the moment something seems dead is the point where most likely it springs back to life....more powerful than ever" (Blackwell;
Carson NA). In many ways this illustrates the power of the art Carson created, although the art is clearly not for all people. Carson, perhaps surprisingly, did not really
even know such a field as graphic art existed until he was 27 years of age and up until he became involved in art he was a professor of sociology
