The term originated within the computer industry to define the collection of records which are stored within a computer in a systematic way - the systematic method of storing information
allows the computer to consult the information to answer questions. Each record that is stored in a computers database is organized into particular elements or facts to ease retrieval
of information. If there are large amounts of data that requires tracking within any given organization, a database provides a more flexible data management system than trying to keep track
of information through a paper filing system, text documents or a spreadsheet. A database has become one of the most instrumental parts of most businesses in todays technological world.
There are several different databases that have been developed over the years and choosing the right database for the appropriate job can at times be a daunting task. Some
issues that need to be considered when selecting a database include the initial cost of the software license (site license, per workstation, etc), the strength and the expected longevity of
the company which manufactures the database, expected product support, do you have to buy a separate support license, whether or not you need an internet based database product among
