most German companies while Chrysler has focused on becoming a learner, cost-saving company. If the company is truly integrated, there will be some sort of a compromise between the two
cultures. The potential for conflict has already been evidenced in their integrated team meetings. They have both functional teams and cross-functional teams to generate ideas about how to best integrate
the two large companies. Conflict has emerged in this work although the scenario suggests they have been resolved. Team members had to deal with both types of culture differences mentioned
earlier. Schrempp is more directive than Eaton. American workers would not be accustomed to working under a more dictatorial leader and that change will come in three years, following the
end of the co-leadership. Schrempp took the lead role and intends to keep that power and control. It would be reasonable for Schrempp to assign a person from his own
German team as the daily leader of the U.S. plant, thereby changing the corporate culture. Also, each company has vastly different net profit margins with Chryslers being much higher than
Daimler-Benz. If Schrempp lives up to his past history, he may well lower the exorbitant salaries American executives receive. The Europeans culture, in terms of pay and salary is fare
more egalitarian than the American culture. If the deal does not work out as planned and Chrysler is not successful, Schrempp may well just dump the company or sell it
as he has done with other companies. Since he tends to do things quickly, this could result in thousands of people losing their jobs. These are the risks to Chrysler
